THE GROWER

John G. Benda and his Australian partner, Zoe Johnson, run a small winery in Montalcino. Two hectares of vines sit within sixteen hectares of woodland, keeping the project closely connected to its surroundings. The July 2026 portfolio records annual production of around 11,000 bottles.

Spontaneous fermentations and ageing in large oak barrels guide the cellar work. Alongside this restrained approach, microbiological analysis helps the team follow the wine as it matures. The aim is to understand its development and preserve its distinctive character, bringing careful observation together with artisanal winemaking.
