THE GROWER

DWNL — Drink Wines Not Labels — began in 2019 with a simple invitation to discover wine beyond established names. The project is led by Alessandro Salvano, an oenologist trained in Alba who gained experience at several Piedmont estates before developing his own approach in Montelupo Albese, near Serralunga d’Alba.

Whole-bunch vinification, inspired by Burgundy, and the pleasure of drinking are central to the project. Alessandro began with Nebbiolo and later added Dolcetto and Chardonnay. His uncle Giorgio Sobrero grows the grapes with a sustainable, low-intervention approach. Together, their work places the fruit and the experience of discovery ahead of the label.
