Stefano Menti represents the 4th generation of winemakers of the Menti family. The origin of the winery comes from the very end of the 19th century when Giovanni Menti used to grow Garganega grape, vegetables and legumes for his family sustenance. In 2002 Stefano came close to the biodynamic approach and later on, in 2004, he started the organic conversion of all his vineyards. In 2010 he concretely introduced and adopted biodynamic principles on his entire agronomic system. The Menti wine production moves around Garganega grape variety made in different
styles (dry/sweet, still/sparkling); surely each bottle is a real and pure expression of territory, tradition and passion.
Monte del cuca 2019
The geographical area is Gambellara (VI), Veneto. The 40/60 years old vineyard is 100% Garganega grapes. The soil is volcanic (basalt). Grapes are hand-harvested and put in small, wooden crates. Once in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and fermented, with native yeasts, together with their skins. Fermentation goes on without the use of temperature control. Some of the wine ages in concrete tanks and some into non-toasted Slavonia oak barrels, both parts in contact with lees (for at least a year). The wine is bottled, unfiltered, and undergoes a brief period of bottle ageing. The production is about 40000 bottles/year.
