Château de la Selve

THE GROWER

Château de la Selve grew around a fortified house dating to the 13th century, which later became an agricultural estate. Benoît’s parents purchased the property in 1990. After graduating from the viticultural college in Beaune, he established his own wine estate there in 2002.

The setting in southern Ardèche combines intense sunshine, cool nights and limestone soils within a wild, scrub-covered landscape. Benoît and his wife Florence use organic and biodynamic methods to protect that environment and support the life of the soils and vines. Their work is directed towards increasingly pure wines that allow the character of this part of the Rhône Valley to emerge.
